WHO ARE WE?
The UT Sailing Team is a nationally competitive sport club with the goal of expanding the love and knowledge of competitive sailing throughout the university community.
We sail out of Austin Yacht Club and are sponsored by UT Rec Sports.
If you are interested in spending time on the lake every week, traveling, making amazing new friends, and of course learning how to sail, please come join us! All experience levels are welcome.
Recent EVENTS
REGATTAS
Recent Regattas:
SEISA Team Race Championship and Sailpack Oriental (Tulane, NC State, April 3, 4 & 5)
After competing in our team race championship in NOLA, the team headed to North Carolina for Sailpack! UT placed 8/19, but the real win was the fun sailing, lively atmosphere, and supportive community of college sailors in Oriental!
McCarthy Cup (UT, March 7 & 8)
We hosted our annual McCarthy Cup regatta and won first place amongst 4 teams! During this team racing regatta, the team sailed through scattered thunderstorms accompanied with light shifty wind. Congrats to our sailors!
Harris Kempner (Texas A&M Galveston, Feb 7 & 8)
Our team competed at Texas A&M Galveston in FJs against 9 other teams in SEISA and other conferences. We placed 6/10.
Q1 Regatta (UT, Jan 31 & Feb 2)
The Longhorns hosted our q1 Regatta in freezing conditions. Although chilly, our sailors, Texas A&M, and Rice had a great time.
ALUMNI REGATTA
Annual Alumni Regatta 2025
On labor day weekend, we kicked off the season by pairing alumni skippers and current team members as crews to race on Lake Travis. From breakfast to crew bidding to racing (and a post-race swim), we had the best time catching up! Thank you to our alumni who travelled from other cities, states, and countries to race with us again. We are so grateful for their support, and can’t wait to see our alumni again next year!
2025 ICSA Open Fleet Race National Championship
From May 27th to May 28th, the team proudly competed in the 2025 ICSA Open Fleet Racing Nationals. Representing A Division were Matias Martin ('27) and Rohit Rajan ('25). B Division featured Lucas Tenrreiro ('27) and Sophia Herrada ('24), with Reese Zebrowski ('26) and Dennis Kostjuhin ('27) rotating in. Reserves included Mark Carella ('27) and Oliver Fenner ('26). Despite rainy weather and variable breezes ranging from 5–12 knots, the team showed remarkable skill and perseverance. Though we didn’t advance to finals, we celebrated strong performances—highlighted by a second-place finish in one race! We're excited to carry this momentum into future regattas.
2025 ICSA Women’s Fleet Race National Championship
From May 20–21, our Women’s team proudly represented The University of Texas at Austin at the 2025 ICSA Women’s Fleet Race Nationals, competing against the top collegiate sailing programs in the country. A Division featured Sophia Herrada ('25) and Reema Nannapaneni ('26), while B Division was sailed by Ria Chhabra ('27) and Kate Lyon ('28). Racing on the St. Mary’s River, the team faced shifty, challenging conditions that tested every sailor's skill and composure. We’re incredibly proud of the progress and heart this team brought to the national stage—and we’re just getting started.

Keep up with utst!
